Joomla htaccess and php 5 problems

Hi,

Does anyone know how to tell php to use version 5 using htacces?

I tried each of these and none work:

AddType x-mapp-php5 .php

AddHandler application/x-httpd-php5 .php

AddHandler cgi-php5 .php

My hosting company is taking forever to get back to me.
