Embed YouTube Videos in Joomla 2.5 and 3

Displaying YouTube videos is one of the most popular things you can do with your Joomla site.

Our YouTube Embedder plugin is the fastest and easiest way to do it. All you need to do is add the URL of the video into your articles.

We've just released a completely free version of YouTube Embedder for Joomla 2.5 and Joomla 3. Here's how it works ...

Installation

Go to the YouTube Embedder download page.
In your Joomla site, go to the Extension Manage and upload YouTube Embedder.
Go to Extension Manager > Plugin Manager and enable the plugin.
Inside the plugin you can set the default height and width for the videos.

Usage

Go to YouTube.com and find the video you want to use.
Copy the URL of the video.

Paste the URL into an article, as below:

Publish the article.
It's really that easy!

Tried it on 2 2.5.8 websites, one works nicely, while the other doesn't.
Functionality is really usefull, so would love to find out what culd be the issue.

Videos use to be such a hassle. YouTube & Joomla! - very nice combination.

Technology is moving so fast. I wonder if we will all be embedding holograms in our sites sometime in the future? LOL

Anyway of improving it so that its possible to embed a playlist? This would be very useful for showing all videos from a playlist in an article.

This method is a good start but does sometimes fail when the youtube can not be reached by the URL, I do not know if this is a setting when uploading the video content or not. I have found that I still need to use the embed method sometimes to view the youtube video. Anyone else found this problem?

One useful tip - if you append ?rel=0 to the end of the youtube link your visitors won't be shown links to other similar videos (usually your competitors!) at the end of your video.

I am trying to use the plugin. But I see only the url in the article page. With AllVideos, for exemple, is the same.

Great plugin. Displays correctly in IE9 in Windows, OSX in Mac, iOS6 in iPhone and iPad. Easy install/config. I made mistake of not killing link when I pasted url into article and got double display. Killed link in article and then single display on page. PERFECT! Thanks for a great plugin.

re mobile, video isn't showing. I only tried it in one browser so it may work in other browsers. Anyone else with this problem?

I just want to point out that it works with "http://...." links and not with "https://...."
