Hopefully your file will now show as being correctly uploaded.

Open an Article

Write in the AllVideos Code

The code you need to use is this {mp3}filename{/mp3}. If the file is called filename.mp3 you don't have to include the .mp3 part.

The file should being playing inside your article, as in the screenshot above.

my audio file is small 10.4 mb but was file was refused as too large. I would like to actually be able to play a much larger file that is about 60 minutes, can I do this with this plug in?
Thank you,
Vicki

Hi Vicki - yes, you can. The tricky thing is getting the file uploaded as many servers have a maximum upload of 2 MB.

You may need to ask your hosting company to raise this limit.

I love you for this. Occasionally, some angel/s provide/s exactly what one needs on the internet. What a relief in a day when I couldn't find an answer for most anything else. THANK YOU!

Why not use utube (vimeo perhaps better quality but not as known)? You will have problems with backing up if your site gets too large and probs of bandwith. One alternative is to have a dedicated serverfor audio and video

Hi Mino,

All Videos is a great option for playing mp3s from your own site. Other 3rd party solutions have their pros and cons as well.

Kind regards,
Nick

Hi Oliver,

If you click on the plugin in plugin manager, that will give you a list of options that you can configure such as allowing downloads, etc.

Kind regards,
Nick

Hi Ba,

Are you able to access global configuration? If not, then you need to use a super administrator account.

Kind regards,
Nick

I followed all directions and the player box appears on my web page. When I click on download a box appears with the following: Download unavailable, wrong file path set, or illegal code execution.

Next, I went into HTML and typed a code for the location of the file, but only the code appeared on my web page.

Any ideas what I missed? It would be greatly appreciated.

Smiling - Jane

Thanks for the tutorial - I am trying to prevent people from downloading an audio file. Under the plugin parameters where it says "Display Download Link" I checked "No", but it still shows the download option on my web page. Any suggestions?

Hi,

I followed all the steps. I see the player on my website, but when I click on it nothing happens. When I go into the backend of my website I see the file and I can play it from there, which means the file is completely uploaded. Any ideas what I can check? I am working on a Mac, might that be a problem with certain browser settings?

Hi and welcome, Mich!

I would start by trying it in a different browser to see if it's a browser compatibility issue. Also, could you provide the link to take a quick look or did you mean it's on a localhost on your Mac?

Kind regards,
Nick

Hi Nick
I'm helping run a site with a friend and I want to add audio to the site so music will play when people go to a page. Im not very tec minded but the site does have ALLVIDEO already on it (thankfully)as I found when following your instructions. Now I have uploaded the mp3 to see what happens and I think it is on there but where you have a musical note in your example above I have a blue circle with an ! inside of it.When I hover over it it does give the details of the upload. Im trying so hard to be able to do stuff on the site without having to ask I wanted to check if it worked but can't find ARTICLE MANAGER anywhere at the back. I'm down as a SUPER ADMINISTRATOR for the site. I wondered if you could help me I so want to get audio on the site myself. Feel worthless with my contributions as she tends to be more experimental than me and often can figure stuff out. Its Joomla 1.8 by the way. I hope you can help Nick many thanks.

Thank you Nick. Will have a look today at that. Thing is too I made a mistake it is actually Joomla 1.0 being used. Before going further though Nick the site is on another server is that a problem for a super administrator to add audio. We are supposed to be going over to 1.5 but the person whose server we are on just aint responding to our mails at the moment. I found the Allvideos under Mambots /site mambots does that mean Allvideos IS on the site. I have double clicked on it and it opens on a page with a bit about the plugin on it and settings of some description on the right. I know above is from another version of Joomla hence why I can't find things at the back end of ours : )and as for adding {mp3}{/mp3}I'm lost.

Hi Memphis,

There was a 1.0 version of AllVideos so hopefully that's what you have :) As for adding, the mp3 tags you do that within the article after you've uploaded the mp3 the audio folder. Hope that helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Kind regards,
Nick

Hi I have installed using your instructions, the only change I have made was change the path of where the media files are. I changed this in plugin manager. When I try to play the mp3 I get error #2032. Any ideas of what i've managed to do wrong ?

Thanks

Phil
