Joomla 2.5.2 is Here. Time to Update!

Joomla 2.5The latest release of Joomla 2.5 arrived today and it's time to update.

Are you still on Joomla 1.6 or 1.7? Don't worry, updating is really, really easy. Also, don't worry about your extensions and templates: if they work with your current version, they will work with Joomla 2.5.2.

Here's how you update to Joomla 2.5:

Step 1: Make a Backup

You need to be doing this regularly, but it's important to remind you before we do this. Here's how to backup your site.

Step 2: Login to Your Joomla Site

If you are running Joomla 2.5.0 or 2.5.1, you will now see a flashing icon which tells you to upgrade. You can see that in the image below.

If you are running Joomla 1.6 or 1.7, go to Extensions > Extension Manager.

Step 3: Find the Update

If you are running Joomla 2.5.0 or 2.5.1, you will see the new Joomla version automatically.

If you are running Joomla 1.6 or 1.7, click Find Updates in the top-right corner.

After you can see the new Joomla version, check the box next to it.

Step 4: Click Update

That's it. Just click the Update button.

Step 5: You're Done!

Hopefully you will now see the message "Updating file was successful."

Hi
Following your tutorial on how to upgrade Joomla 2.5.1 to 2.5.2 which is very useful. It appears there is a bug as instead of getting a message "updating file was successful" I received the following message "-1 - An error has occurred. Copy failed". Followed this up at joomla.org forum, and it seems there is a bug in the installer. So I updated via my ftp and was successful.

Regards
